Lichfield theatre-goers can show their support for the Garrick as the venue takes part in a national campaign.
The My Theatre Matters initiative invites audience members and performers to pledge their support for local arts venues.
Adrian Jackson, Lichfield Garrick’s Chief Executive and Artistic Director, said: “We’ve signed up to My Theatre Matters as it’s such a positive way for people to show their support for the Lichfield Garrick.
“Within the first five days of joining the campaign we’ve already attracted more than 500 pledges of support, and have set a target for 1,000 pledges before the end of July and 50,000 by the end of our Christmas season.
“In these are difficult financial times, it’s really important that the Arts Council, MPs, council leaders and people in high places know just how important the arts are, and to show them how much local theatres are valued.”
The Garrick is hoping its work with community and youth groups will see more pledges of support made.
“To add your voice to the campaign and to show your support for the Lichfield Garrick, please visit the theatre and sign a My Theatre Matters postcard or go to www.lichfieldgarrick.com and click on the My Theatre Matters icon,” added Adrian.
