POLICE are appealing for information after the remains of a sheep were found in Lichfield.

Officers say the animal’s body was found in woodland off Abnalls Lane at 11.25am on 14th January.

Staffordshire Police investigations have led them believe the sheep may have been stolen from a nearby field – and that others have also been taken from the same location in the past three months.

Chief Superintendent Emily Clarke, strategic lead for rural crime at Staffordshire Police, said:

“While it remains unclear how the sheep came to be fatally injured we want to reassure livestock owners and the rural community across the county that we are committed to supporting them.

“We have liaised with the owners offering them reassurance and advice.”

Anyone with information can contact police on 101, quoting incident 185 of 14th January.
