RESIDENTS at a local care home are celebrating after scooping a gardening award.
Hammerwich Hall Care Home was crowned the winner of Advinia in Bloom, beating 35 other care properties across the country.
Judges were impressed by the home's vegetable garden, which yielded produce used in making meals for residents.
Carol Fallos, whose mother is a resident at the home, said:
"A huge thank you should go to activities coordinator Paulina for organising the gardening help and plant donations.
"The residents and their families have thoroughly enjoyed working outside together and creating such a beautiful garden."
Despite it being a sweltering summer, the team at the home has been tending the gardens every day, with residents and colleagues taking turns watering and weeding.
Home manager Kerrie Carpenter said:
"Thank you all so much for all the support from family members and Paulina.
"We're absolutely delighted to have won the Advinia in Bloom competition.
"Our residents and team have worked so hard, and we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together at Hammerwich Hall."
