A STAFF member has been suspended at a Lichfield school amid an “ongoing investigation”.
Nether Stowe School confirmed that the unnamed individual was not presently working at the site as a result.
A spokesperson for the school said:
“We are aware of an ongoing investigation involving a member of staff.
“We can confirm this individual has been suspended and is not on site at the school.
“The safety and wellbeing of our students remains our highest priority and we are continuing to work closely with the relevant authorities and are providing the appropriate support to our school community.
“As this is an ongoing matter, it would not be appropriate to comment further at this stage.”
Lichfield MP Dave Robertson urged locals not speculate on the reasons behind the suspension while the investigation was taking place.
He said:
“This news will obviously be a concern for the community.
“Following conversations with the school trust, I cam confident that they are acting to ensure that children remain safe in school.
“I’m sure that people across Lichfield will want to avoid sharing any misinformation so that the investigation can continue.”
