Taking place on August 9, the event will feature re-enactors the Birmingham Pals and the Naval Brigade.

Tours of the museum’s replica trench system will also be on offer.

A spokesperson said: “We will also be welcoming the Edith Cavell Trust and their wonderful re-enactors to demonstrate what nursing and medicine was like at the front, with a field hospital and nurses in contemporary uniform.

“On the home front, watch out for the Suffragettes and Charlie Chaplin, ask an Edwardian policeman the time, and sit and relax in the elegant Palm Court tea tent, complete with newspapers from 1914 and pianist.”

Other activities on the day include fairground rides and performances from the Icknield Male Voice Choir.

The event runs from 11am to 6pm. Entry is £6 for adults and £4 for senior citizens and concesions. A family ticket for two adults and up to three children is £20.
