Actress Stefanie Powers is set to star in a new adaptation of On Golden Pond at the Lichfield Garrick.
She will be joined on stage by Richard Johnson and Elizabeth Carling for the Middle Ground Theatre Company production from April 10 to 14.
The play tells the love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the 48th year. They are joined by their daughter and her fiancée, who leave their teenage son with Norman and Ethel while they travel to Europe.
A moving exploration of the relationship between the elderly couple, their daughter and their grandson follows. As the summer wanes, there is a realisation that time is against them. But the years have been good, and perhaps there is another summer on Golden Pond still to enjoy.”
Stefanie Powers, is known to millions from her role as Jennifer Hart in the hit TV series Hart to Hart, while Richard Johnson is a veteran star of Hollywood films, and an RSC and National Theatre leading man. Elizabeth Carling, meanwhile, is best known from her regular roles in Boon, Goodnight Sweetheart and Casualty.
