Team GB star kicks off preparations for Lichfield Half Marathon

The Lichfield Half Marathon is under starter’s orders after the official launch.

Team GB athlete Phil Clamp visited the Waitrose supermarket in the city to kick-off the build-up to the third running of the event on May 5.

He visited the race sponsors and admitted the course was an appealing one for athletes of all abilities.T

“The route starts and finishes in the city but it also rolls out into the beautiful countryside around Whittington and Fradley villages,” said Phil, an ambassador for race organisers KP Events.

“It’s relatively flat after the first three miles and the finish on Stowe Field under the gaze of the stunning Cathedral is just unbeatable as a view.”

This year will be the second time Waitrose have given their support to the race.

Retail manager Dean Vaughn – who will be part of a team from the supermarket running on the day – added: “It’s a great event that brings the community together and this year it could be even more memorable with a bigger field expected.”
