Staff at a Burntwood building firm have beaten their fundraising target after taking on a trekking challenge.
The team from Chasetown-based Cameron Homes were hoping to collect £3,000 but have raised an additional £600 on top of their target.
They took part in the Hope Challenge against other construction firms. The event saw them trek through the Peak District carrying materials to build a shelter they would sleep in for the weekend, before also undertaking other challenges to test their skills.
Darren Abley, contracts manager with house builders Cameron, said that they were pleased to have raised so much money for people living in poverty.
“We are thrilled to have raised such a substantial amount for Habitat for Humanity, the charity behind the initiative and are very grateful to all our sponsors,” he said.
“It was a really enjoyable and challenging event and by raising over £3,000 this is enough for the charity to build a new house for a homeless family in a third world country – providing them with the safe, secure accommodation that many of us take for granted.”
