A theme park near Lichfield has raised £4,000 for a diabetes charity.
The cheque was given to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) by Drayton Manor Theme Park, with the money going towards supporting their efforts to find a cure for type one diabetes.
Colin Bryan, Managing Director at Drayton Manor Theme Park, said:
“We’re delighted to have raised so much money for such a good cause and know our contribution will continue to provide hope to those sufferers who hope a cure will be found.”
Around £3,000 of the money was raised at a Sporting Lunch held in the park’s Tower Suite in December hosted by BBC Radio WM’s presenter Jimmy Franks and featuring former England footballer Paul Merson.
The other £1,000 was raised through the sale of sandwiches in the cafeteria, where 10p from every purchase throughout the season was donated to JDRF.
