THOUSANDS of youngsters have enjoyed free fun thanks to a county-wide scheme.
The Staffordshire Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme ran over the festive period and saw those aged between five and 16 who receive free school meals take part in a series of free sessions, with many also including a hot meal.
The winter iteration saw children enjoying sports, dance, animal care and crafts.
Cllr Nick Lakin, cabinet member for children and young people at Staffordshire County Council, said:
“We’re thrilled with the success of this year’s HAF winter programme – it’s been absolutely fantastic.
“Seeing more children take part each year, enjoying themselves, learning new skills and making memories in a safe and supportive environment is exactly what this scheme is all about.
“The continued positive feedback from parents and providers really shows just how much of a difference HAF makes for families during the school holidays.”
