Time is running out for people to sign up to take on the Staffordshire Ironman challenge.
Organisers say only around 100 spots remain for the event on June 10, which starts at Chasewater and ends in Stafford town centre.
Around 2,000 competitors are expected to take on the 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride and a 13.1 mile run.
Dan James, race director for the event, said: “We are preparing for another full field of athletes at the 2018 Staffordshire Ironman race.
“The spectator support around this should be amazing.”
Last year, an estimated £1.4 million was spent on food and accommodation by competitions, with a further £1million spent by spectators.
Cllr Mark Winnington, Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet member for economic growth, said: “Ironman is a great boost for the local economy, businesses and tourism and as a county we are looking forward to giving a warm welcome to the competitors and their supporters once again in June.
“Staffordshire has always provided a spectacular backdrop for the event and the great reception from local residents along the route will undoubtedly help spur on competitors over the finishing line once again.”
