PASSENGERS are being reminded to check their journeys ahead of changes to the timetable over the festive period.

London Northwestern Railway, which operates on the West Coast Main Line to and from Lichfield Trent Valley, said engineering works and Christmas events meant many services would be busier than usual in the coming days.

An amended timetable will be in place for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve with an earlier shutdown of services on both days, while rail replacement buses will be in place over the festive period on some parts of the route.

Jonny Wiseman, customer experience director for London Northwestern Railway, said:

“Services to and from London Euston are expected to be very busy, so customers travelling over the festive period are encouraged to travel before Christmas Eve and after 2nd January where possible.

“Due to engineering works, rail replacement services are in place on some days for certain routes, so I’d recommend checking journey planners before setting out and ensuring you leave plenty of time to travel.”
