TRIBUTES have been paid following the death of a Burntwood man at the age of 103.

Bernhard Mills was believed to be the oldest man in the town before his passing on Friday (7th August).

Hammerwich Parish Council's vice-chair Cllr Dave King said:

"A very talented musician, Bernhard played the rare pedal steel guitar and was probably the oldest person in the UK to do so.

"He walked the half mile to his church, St Joseph’s Catholic Church, several times a week well into his 102nd year.

"Famed for his jokes, Bernhard will be sadly missed by the whole community."
