TWO goals in as many minutes were enough to earn Chasetown all three points against Congleton Town.
With new manager Carl Dickinson watching on, The Scholars saw their defence tested early on as the visitors looked to find an opener.
But the home side grew into the game and forced the Congleton keeper into his first save just before the half-hour mark.
Jack Langston fired wide on 40 minutes – but he wasn’t to be denied a minute before the break as he found the net to give Chasetown the lead.
Things got even better in first half stoppage time when Jordan Evans rifled home to double the advantage.
Curtis Pond had to be alert early in the second half as Congleton looked to find a way back into the game, while a free kick also went over the bar as the visitors continued to press.
The Scholars lead was halved on the hour mark though when Kieran Knapper found the net.
Pond was again called into action to push a free kick around the post and ensure Chasetown secured all three points.
