A police dog has played its part in helping a Lichfield girl after her family home was broken into.
Two men broke into a property in the city in September, but fleed after being disturbed.
Despite searches by police dog teams, the suspects weren’t found – leaving the family’s eight-year-old daughter struggling to sleep in the days following the incident.
PCSO Elaine Sneyd spoke to the girl to try and help reassure her.
“During the visit the girl informed PCSO Sneyd of her love of dogs and voiced her disappointment that she didn’t get to see the police dog who responded to the incident on the night of the break-in,” a Staffordshire Police spokesperson said.
“When PCSO Sneyd told the Dog Support Unit about the girl they arranged a special visit for her. She got to meet police dog George and his handler PC Karen Bloor who was able to explain all about the work that police dogs do and help her begin to feel safe in her own home again.”
