Volunteers are being urged to help out at the 2017 Staffordshire Ironman race.
Competitors will take on a 1.2 mile swim in Chasewater on June 18, before heading out on a 56 mile bike ride through parts of Lichfield, Burton and Cannock Chase. They then finish with a 13.1 mile run at the Shugborough Estate.
More than 500 volunteers are needed to make the event a success. People are being urged to help out at athlete registration, marshalling, transition stations and handing out medals at the finish line.
Sue Ball, who volunteered at the 2015 race, said: “It was great to be part of one of the UK’s most exciting sporting events.
“What I remember most about the day, apart from those amazing athletes was just how many athletes, including Gordon and Tana Ramsay, thanked me for giving up my time and volunteering to help at the event – a truly rewarding experience.”
