Work to improve a park on the outskirts of Lichfield is continuing.
Following the thinning of Darnford Park’s woodland, Lichfield District Council is starting phase two of the improvement works.
The second phase includes improving the woodland paths, working from Cappers Lane up to Darnford Lane and then through to Ryknild Street, and freshening up the entrances to the park by planting hedgerows and installing new fences.
Work has also started on resurfacing and extending Darnford Lane car park, which is now closed to the public. Work will then start on Ryknild Street car park.
On top of this, new benches and picnic tables will also be added, as will new dog waste and litter bins. It is hoped the works will be completed later in the spring.
Councillor Val Richards, Lichfield District Council’s cabinet member for leisure services, said: “This second phase of work will make such a difference to the park, as we know the car parks fill up quite quickly on busy days and that the paths need improving.
“We hope everyone who uses Darnford Park will be pleased with the results, and I would like to thank everyone for their patience, while we carry out these improvement works.”
