Some of the orchestra stars of the future will be on the bill for the opening concert of the 2013 Lichfield Festival.
A number of leading musicians have come through Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester and the current crop of talent will be performing at Lichfield Cathedral on July 4.
A spokesperson said: “The school’s Symphony Orchestra contains many musical stars of tomorrow and they have an exciting programme in store with popular works by two of the 20th Century’s most exciting composers.”
The concert opens with Benjamin Britten’s Young Person’s Guide To The Orchestra, before Shostakovich’s dramatic Symphony No 5 enters the fray for the second half.
Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Stephen Threlfall (first half) and Paul Mann (second half).
