Burntwood 3rds enjoyed success in their first outing of the season as they saw off Wolverhampton 3rds.
The mix of colts and veteran players in their line-up worked well for the hosts as they ran out 33-5 winners.
Fluent play between backs and forwards saw tries for Danny Hackett, Callum Grundy and Tony Sutton in the first half. Martin Ottey landed all three conversions.
The second half saw a change of manpower and Wolverhampton picked up on this to score a try in the corner.
Burntwood responded well with a second try for Hackett, one from Sean Latham and a conversion from Ottey to top off a great game well officiated by Bill Tolmie.
Burntwood’s 1sts resume their league campaign this Saturday with the visit of Bloxwich to The Sportsway – kick off 3pm. The 3rds travel in the opposite direction to play Bloxwich 2nds. The colts travel to neighbours Lichfield on Sunday.
Burntwood RUFC’s Annual Dinner and Presentation Night has been arranged for November 22 in the marquee. Guest speakers are ex-England and Leicester Tigers’ hooker George Chuter and comedian Jed Stone. Tickets available in the clubhouse.
