Traditional Irish band Lunasa are returning to Lichfield Guildhall.
Lunasa’s members have helped formed the backbone of some of the greatest Irish groups of the decade – bassist Trevor Hutchinson was a key member of The Waterboys, and later he, with guitarist Donogh Hennessy, formed the dynamic rhythm section of The Sharon Shannon Band.
Fiddler Sean Smyth is an All-Ireland champion who has played with Donal Lunny’s Coolfin. Kevin Crawford, considered to be among the finest flautists in Ireland played with the acclaimed traditional group Moving Cloud and piper Cillian Vallely is from the same talented musical family as brother Niall Vallely of Nomos.
The group are renowned for their inventive arrangements, and bass driven grooves which get to the pulse of Irish music but at the same time redefines its wonderful rhythms without losing any of its freshness.
Their last visit to Lichfield sold out, but tickets for their performance at Lichfield Guildhall on May 10 are still available, priced £16 adults, £15 concessions, £14 members and £8 students. To book call 01543 262223 or visit the online box office.
