Proposals to build new homes on green belt land in Burntwood will be discussed at a public meeting next week.

The new Local Plan Allocations from Lichfield District Council could see the site off Highfields Road developed in future.

The proposals have drawn criticism, with Cllr Sue Woodward, leader of the Labour opposition group at the local authority warning of the impact such a move could have.

“Our town just hasn’t got the infrastructure and facilities for its current residents or for the new families arriving now and certainly not for these proposed sites,” she said.

Now Hammerwich Parish Council has organised the meeting at Erasmus Darwin Academy at 7.30pm on April 28. All residents are welcome to attend.
