The Mayor of Lichfield and his deputy were among the casualties after the votes were counted for Lichfield City Council.
The civic leader was both ousted as the Conservatives saw their previous 25 representatives reduced to 18.
Outgoing Mayor David Leytham lost out in Curborough ward, while deputy Peter Hitchman failed to retain his seat in the Stowe ward.
The Liberal Democrats saw their number of councillors jump from one to eight, while Labour’s representation went from two to three.
