A FORMER leader has quit the Conservative group at Lichfield District Council.

Cllr Mike Wilcox also no longer represents the party at Staffordshire County Council.

He currently sits as an Alrewas and Fradley ward representative at the district council and on the Burntwood South division at a county level.

But both authorities have today (11th December) updated his details to confirm he is sitting as an independent member.

Cllr Wilcox was leader of Lichfield District Council from 2010 until 2019, and had recently held cabinet roles at both county and district before stepping back for “health-related reasons” earlier this year.

No details have yet been given for his decision to leave the Conservative group, but his wife Cllr Sonia Wilcox has remained as a Tory representative for the district ward she shares with her husband.
