Abdulwali Safi stars with bat and ball as Whittington beat Brewood 2nds

Victory sees bowler collect figures of 6-23 after hitting an unbeaten 65.

WHITTINGTON produced a dominant display to earn a 102-run home victory against Brewood 2nds.

The villagers were sent in to bat first and suffered an early shock as they slipped to 9-2.

The early struggles with the bat continued as they fell to 71-6.

But Euan Hammond's 62 and a knock of 65 from Abdulwali Safi helped their side reach 205 before being bowled out.

Brewood's hopes suffered a first-over blow as Shamimur Rahman caught Callum Blazey off the bowling of Matt Griffiths.

The score reached 39 before the second wicket fell when Safi skittled Joe Huxley – and then his replacement Rohan Woodman followed him the very next ball.

The visitors struggled to find any resistance with the bat as only Stuart Jevons in the middle or lower order struck double figures. He eventually ran out of partners though as Whittington ended the innings after bowling out the away side for 103.

Safi was the star of the show with the ball as he collected figures of 6-23.
