ALREWAS gave their survival hopes a boost as they secured an eight-wicket home win against Ticknall.
The result means the Herons remain in the drop zone, but sit just one point off Chesterfield in the all-important tenth spot in the Derbyshire County Cricket League Premier Division.
The Herons lost the toss and went into the field first – and they waited until the 11th over to claim a first wicket when Luke Harvey was bowled by Gareth Woolley.
Fellow opener Tom Wood went the same way when he was caught by Will Smedley off Woolley's bowling as Ticknall slipped to 49-2.
But the middle order shared plenty of runs around for the visitors as they made 201-7 in their 50 overs.
Alrewas suffered an early blow in reply as James Burton was bowled by Rex Tooley after scoring 11.
The Herons would not be deterred though as they moved the score on to 116 before the second wicket fell when Woolley was caught by Tooley off the bowling of Tom Wood after scoring 63.
It would prove to be the last joy Ticknall had with the ball as Tevyn Walcott's 48 and Dan Spiers' 61 steered their side past the target for the loss of just two wickets.
