Andy Burnham will reconnect the Labour party with young voters, according to a local supporter.
Joshua Bell, who stood for election to Lichfield District Council in the elections earlier this year, has already warned that a victory for Jeremy Corbyn in the leadership election could divide the party.
He believes Mr Burnham’s vision for jobs and housing will “resonate” with young people in Lichfield and Burntwood – and insists the 45-year-old is the only leadership hopeful who looks like a Prime Minister in waiting.
“Andy is the one who can lead and unite the party both in opposition and then in government – he’s the full package,” said Mr Bell.
“His promises regarding housing and jobs will undoubtedly resonate with the young people of Lichfield and Burntwood. Andy’s manifesto is a message of hope – he’s the one the Tories truly fear.
“We have to imagine one of the leadership candidates leading our country. I can see Andy walking through the doors of number 10 Downing Street.”
Mr Burnham has pledged to scrap tuition fees, renationalise the railways and to introduce a living wage for all ages if he becomes leader and wins election to Number 10.
“He’s not just a great potential leader, but Andy actually has the ability to change hearts and minds. He has the personality and professionalism to lead successfully from the front,” Mr Bell added.
The next leader will be announced at a special party conference on September 12.
