POLICE are appealing for information after a fire was started deliberately.

Emergency services were called to land off Hall Lane near Muckley Corner just before 11am on 25th June.

Fire crews later deemed the cause to be deliberate and police have confirmed an investigation has begun.

Watch manager Arturs Grotans, who attended the incident, said:

“The recent dry weather increases the risk of fires spreading quickly and getting out of hand, so what may start as a bit of fun could have devastating consequences.

“Thankfully in this incident nobody was injured but damage was caused to woodland.

“I would like to remind people not to set fires in woodland especially during the warm weather.”

Anyone with information can contact police on 101, quoting incident 231 of 25th June.
