Assistant manager Gary Cantelo believes Shenstone Pathfinder FC showed their strength in depth as they picked up a point against Hanwood United.
The much-fancied visitors faced a Shenstone side without nine players because of injury or holidays.
But a Pathfinder dug deep and went ahead when Chris Caddy netted. However, Hanwood showed their quality to net an equaliser late on.
Despite going so close to claiming all three points, Cantelo refused to be too downbeat. He said:
“It was disappointing not to get all three points, but considering the amount of injuries and players we had out, I think we may have taken a point before the game.
“It’s a testament to the strength in depth we now have at the club that we can compete with the likes of Hanwood who have won their first two games this season. We should have plenty of the lads fit and ready in the next week or so, then we will have some real competition for places and that can only be good for us.”
Shenstone’s next fixture sees them travel to AFC Smethwick on Saturday (August 27) for a game at York Road, Oldbury, kick-off 3pm.
