CHASETOWN earned a bank holiday victory as they won 1-0 at Sporting Khalsa.
Mark Swann’s men began brightly and went close in the opening moments when Joey Butlin was sent through, but he could only send his effort wide.
The Scholars continued to press and went close again when Luke Yates headed onto the roof of the net.
On the quarter of an hour mark, Todd Ferrier almost marked his return to The Guardian Warehousing arena with a goal, but his near post effort was well held by home keeper Raven Constable.
The second half saw Sporting Khalsa test Chasetown stopper Curtis Pond as he was forced to turn away a near post shot.
The Scholars got the crucial goal in the 66th minute when Yates was sent through and kept his calm to slot under Constable to make it 1-0 to the visitors.
Chasetown pushed for a second and went close when Butlin’s effort went just over the top.
