Leisure centre bosses in Lichfield insist they are “working tirelessly” to resolve a fault that has forced it to close for a week.
Friary Grange Leisure Centre hasn’t been able to open since a fault was discovered with a fire alarm panel.
However, emails have revealed that Lichfield District Council officials believe the issue was caused by condensation due to delays repairing problems with the central heating system.
Freedom Leisure, which operates the leisure centre on behalf of the council, said in a Facebook post: “We are working tirelessly to resolve the issue and to reopen as soon as possible.”
There is no indication when the centre will reopen, with indications it could continue into a second week, with classes scheduled for tomorrow (18th February) already listed as cancelled on the company’s website.
