A Burntwood business has raised £800 for West Midlands Ambulance Service.
Parry Bowen, a manufacturer of facades, handed over the money after holding their annual charity raffle.
Matt Heward, West Midlands Ambulance Service Community Response manager, said:
“We are extremely grateful for the donation towards the Community First Responders charity fund. There are currently 500 Community First Responders (CFR) based within 35 groups throughout Staffordshire. Over the last year these CFRs have supported West Midlands Ambulance Service by responding to approximately 8,500 emergency calls.
“The Trust also leads numerous community schemes to help raise awareness and to further increase the number of defibrillators installed in public places throughout the West Midlands Region. The quicker someone is defibrillated, not only improves the chance of a patient’s survival but it can also help to improve the chances of a patient’s full recovery and reduce the time to do so.
“This donation is almost enough to buy a defibrillator, which ideally we would like to place within Burntwood.”
Rob Harrison from Parry Bowen added:
“The work that the CFR volunteers do is invaluable and we at Parry Bowen are proud to be able to make a contribution to such an important initiative. Our HR supervisor Andrea Smith and her sister Emma, who are local girls, put in a lot of time and effort when organising our annual events for the benefit of our employees.
“Each year, as a result of their efforts and the contributions from our employees, we are able to make donations to charities chosen by our staff. Our company ethos has always been about community and supporting local charities for the benefit of everyone in the Burntwood and Chasetown area If making this donation leads to saving the life of just one person locally then the efforts of everyone involved in our event have been worthwhile.”
