MEMBERS of Burntwood WI have been raising awareness of environmental issues as part of a national initiative.
They joined other groups across the country to take part in the Great Big Green Week.
The Burntwood members used funding from Burntwood Town Council’s Better Burntwood fund to create a display at Princes Park with fabrics and handmade fish to highlight the need for clean rivers.
Cllr Sue Woodward, vice chair of Burntwood Town Council, said:
“It was lovely to spend time with the members of Burntwood WI. They are clearly a very active and creative group of women who care deeply about wider issues across the UK.
“The display, which is both beautiful and great fun, will hopefully get people thinking about the cleanliness of our rivers and so bring greater awareness of the need for all of us to raise our voices.
“They have spent their grant from the town council in an unusual way and have certainly made a splash. Thanks to all of them.”
