Burntwood RUFC’s U17 prodcued a positive performance to pick up 31-0 win at Bloxwich.
The visitors had a tough ten minutes to start off the game as the hosts took the game to them. However, great running from Dan Black and Elliot Woolley saw a brilliant offload by Black to Charlie Liggins who sprinted 22 metres to cross for an unconverted try.
Burntwood were starting to find gaps in the Bloxwich line by now with strong forward running by Alex Barr, Matt Ford and Connor Turner.
They stretched their advantage when the ball was whipped down the line to centre Liam Smith who, from 40 metres with extreme power and silky sidestepping, managed to beat several men for a try. Liggins failed to convert.
Tom Downes used his ever reliable boot to make Burntwood metres throughout the half and kept it going by putting his side in good positions to ensure they went into the break 10-0 up.
The second period saw the visiting side open the scoring once more when Elliot Woolley switched with Charlie Liggins, who chipped the ball round the full-back to run 50 metres for his second try of the game, converting this one for good measure.
A strong hit from Harry Davison on a Bloxwich prop allowed his side to turn the ball over. Great hands from the backs saw the ball reach full-back Woolley who raced over for a second score in as many games. Liggins converted to give his side a 24-0 advantage.
The scoring was completed when Liggins received the ball from prop Sean Southall to score under the posts. Liggins converted the extras.
