A CIVIC tradition is being revived, Burntwood Town Council's chair has confirmed.
No civic service has been held since before the Covid pandemic.
But now Cllr Sue Woodward has confirmed the tradition will return on 13th September.
She said:
"We used to hold civic services every year, but not for the last seven years now so I'm delighted that we're kicking off the political year again with this act of dedication and celebration of our town.
"I'm really grateful that Burntwood Methodist Church responded so positively to my suggestion and to Rev Liz Dunning, who has been so enthusiastic and will lead the service."
Community organisations and other churches across the town will be represented at the service.
A collection will be taken to be shared between the church and Cllr Woodward’s chosen charity, Burntwood Be A Friend.
Cllr Woodward added:
"We have a great community spirit across the town and this provides us with a chance to honour it."
The service will take place at 4pm. Refreshments will be provided afterwards with cakes baked by Cllr Carolyn Gittings.
