Burntwood Town Council says it hopes to create a “community hub” at the Old Mining College Centre.
The local authority will officially move into the site on May 8.
Staff will make the move from the council’s current home at Bride Cross Road by the end of May.
A spokesperson said: “Members are delighted to have invited a wide range of people from across the community to celebrate a new chapter in the building’s life.
“Since the building transferred to the town council last September, the IT suire has been upgraded and we are in the process of making improvements to the building using Section 106 funds, including improving the railings and upgrading the kitchens.
“The council is keen for the building to become a community hub and it is hoped that the improvements will encourage more local groups and businesses to use the facilities for meetings and training events.”
The Old Mining College Centre had been at the centre of a row when plans emerged to rename it Burntwood Town Hall – proposals which have since been ditched following a public petition.
