A VENUE in Burntwood is hoping to secure £15,000 of funding to help repair boilers and toilets.
An application for Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) money to cover the costs at Burntwood Memorial Hall will be discussed by Burntwood Town Council at a meeting on 18th May.
Non-profit organisation Burntwood Memorial Community Association said the need for repairs was now urgent.
The group’s application said:
“It has become apparent that essential infrastructure within our facilities is deteriorating,
“The boilers, now over 20 years old, are beginning to fail and the underground sewer pipework is in poor condition, frequently becoming blocked.
“These issues are impacting our ability to provide reliable services to the community and highlight the urgent need for repair and replacement.”
The association is putting up £5,000 towards the cost of repairs, but is hoping CIL funding will help cover the rest of the costs.
The application added:
“Reliable heating and functional facilities will ensure the main hail remains available for hire, reduce cancellations and support increased usage to strengthen the long-term financial sustainability of the centre.”
