Campaign against HS2 hits the buffers after outcome of Judicial Reviews

Campaigners fighting plans for a high speed rail line have been dealt a blow after the outcome of Judicial Reviews was revealed.

There had been challenges to a number of issues surrounding the planning of the HS2 project, which will cut through parts of Lichfield and surrounding villages.

But Mr Justice Ouseley only ruled against the government on the issue of consultation over compensation payments.

The outcome has been described as “good news” by the rail minister Simon Burns.

He told the BBC: “He [Mr Justice Ousley] has given us the “green light” to move forward.

“That is good news, because the project is in the national interest.”
