People in Lichfield and Burntwood are being invited to boost their numeracy skills when a programme launches across Staffordshire later this year.

The Government has allocated £4.2million to Staffordshire County Council as part of the Multiply scheme which gives people the chance to learn as part fo a fully-funded three-year programme.

Cllr Philip White, cabinet member for economy and skills, said the initiative would be accessed through a new digital numeracy platform and local courses.

“We have secured a significant amount of funding to run the Multiply scheme here in Staffordshire and we’re looking forward to launching it in the autumn.

“The programme is aimed at approximately 17 million adults – or half of the working age population – who have the numeracy skills of primary age children.

“Many people are not confident about their numeracy skills including some in top professions.

“Improving your skills can help in everyday life, whether at work, managing household finances or helping children with their homework. It can also help career prospects, whatever your line of work.

“We’ll shortly be announcing more details of the programme in Staffordshire and would urge people to get in touch to find out more.”
