People living in and around Lichfield will get the chance to view the latest plans for HS2 at an event at the Guildhall.
The display of the updated plans for construction of Phase One forms part of a consultation across the country by HS2 Ltd into “design refinements”.
Among the proposed changes outlined ahead of a bill to Parliament authorising construction of the high speed rail line is an alteration to the alignment of the Phase One route near Lichfield in order to allow a second stage of the line to Manchester to be connected “with the minimum of disruption to HS2 train services”.
In a letter to local residents informing them of the new consultation, chief executive Alison Munro said: “The Secretary of State for Transport is proposing a number of changes to the design of the route.
“Before deciding whether to incorporate the more significant changes into the design that will accompany the bill to Parliament, the Secretary of State for Transport is seeking the public’s views.
“This consultation exercise is important and I encourage everyone with an interest to take part.”
Residents can examine the changes further at Guildhall when the event takes place on June 11, from 10am to 5pm.
