The former chairman of Lichfield District Council has been presenting cheques to his chosen charities.
In his year in the role, councillor Joseph Powell helped to raise £2,632 for Young Carers Association (Lichfield branch) and Rocklands School.
The former chairman presented cheques of £1,316 to Mandy Rollins, Manager of Young Carers Project for Staffordshire, and Tony Dooley, headteacher at Rocklands School.
Cllr Powell said:
“My year as chairman was immensely enjoyable. I was honoured to represent the district council at the many events, openings and ceremonies. It was also a wonderful opportunity to raise money for my chosen charities. I would like to thank everyone who gave so generously and to everyone who supported me during my year in office, especially my wife Jean.”
Mr Dooley added:
“On behalf of all the teachers and pupils, I would like to thank Cllr Powell for his support. We will put the money towards developing sensory areas around the school.”
