Rain may have forced Burntwood Rugby Club’s Diamond Jubilee event indoors in early June but it didn’t stop them raising over £400 during an afternoon of fun and fund raising for the Acorns Children’s Hospice.
The donation was accepted by Community Fundraising Officer for Acorns in the Black Country Hannah Nolan at the club’s Sportsway HQ last week.
“I am overwhelmed by the generosity that Burntwood Rugby Club has shown Acorns,” Hannah said. “The donation of £445.97 could fund a physiotherapist for two days at our Walsall Hospice.
“It currently costs £750 per day for each child’s care and we need support from our community now more than ever to achieve this. It is thanks to community groups like Burntwood Rugby Club, that we can continue to help children and their families and make a real difference to people’s lives.”
The money was raised by a variety of activities including a raffle, a tombola and a series of games which provided entertainment and amusement for members of the senior and junior sections of the club.
Special thanks go to Whitehouse Butchers, The Windmill Inn and D Beauty and Tanning who all contributed to a successful and enjoyable celebration.
