An amazing performance by Chasetown Ladies saw them earn a draw against high flying Bedworth.
The home side got off to a poor start when the ball was lost in the centre circle and a good through ball enabled Bedworth to take the lead with only five minutes on the clock.
However, the response could not have been quicker. From the kick off Sinead Treanor and Jodie Kinsey exchanged a quick one two and the latter put the ball through for Jade Arber to sprint onto and tuck the ball past the advancing keeper.
Bedworth restored their lead with a strike from just outside the penalty area. The ball looked to be going wide, but it struck the inside of the post and rolled over the line to leave the visitors with a 2-1 lead at half-time.
Chasetown upped their performance in the second half and created a couple of clear cut chances but failed to take them.
Losing 2-1 with ten minutes to play called for a little tactical change and Jade Arber was sent forward from her defensive duties on the left. This had an immediate effect as Bedworth failed to respond to the change and the ball was fed through to her. She quickly looked up to find Treanor racing across the box and her first time shot flew in over the keeper’s head.
In the 88th minute Bedworth broke free and won a penalty after a breakaway and retook the lead from the spot.
But Chasetown hadn’t given up hope and Charlotte Bull was sent tumbling inside the box in the fourth minute of injury time. With penalty taker Carly Edwards missing through injury, it was down to Dani Wright to do the honours from 12 yards. She found the net, only for the referee to demand the kick be taken again. Wright kept her nerve to find the net at the second time of asking and earn the Scholars a dramatic draw.
