CHASETOWN suffered their first defeat of the campaign with a midweek loss at Kidsgrove Athletic.
Luke Yates forced a fingertip save from home keeper Aaron Woolrich as the visitors recorded their first chance of note after 15 minutes.
Other opportunities saw Jack Langston power over and Max Chimenes send an effort just wide.
It was the home side that broke the deadlock eight minutes before the break though when a corner was only cleared as far as Macaulay Taylor who found the net.
Things got worse for Chasetown early in the second half when Logan Cousins’ low ball across the box was turned home by Jay Snook.
But the Scholars soon halved the deficit as Tom Thorley’s delivery was converted by the head of Yates.
Kieran Cook fired an effort over the top as Chasetown went in search of a leveller.
It was Kidsgrove who extended their lead though with 15 minutes to go when Taylor netted his second of the evening.
Woolrich made a number of smart saves as Chasetown again tried to hit back, before he was eventually beaten deep into stoppage time when Alex Bradley headed home to make it 3-2.
