CHASETOWN squeezed through in the Walsall Senior Cup after a penalty shootout win over AFC Wulfrunians.
The Scholars looked to be easing to victory inside 90 minutes after goals from Luke Yates and Danny Glover either side of half time.
But Ryan Bright and Freddie Cockerell pulled Wulfrunians back into the game to send it to penalties.
Kris Taylor sent the keeper the wrong way with the first spot kick before Chasetown keeper Matt Sargeant saved – a feat the Scholars stopper repeated after Yates had also scored to make it 2-0.
Oli Hayward made it 3-0 in the shootout before the visitors finally got off the mark.
Max Chimenes saw Chasetown’s fourth penalty saved before Wulfrunians made it 3-2 to pile the pressure on Kai Cunningham, but the Scholars sub made no mistake to send his side through to the next round.
