IT was disappointment on the opening day of the season as Chasetown fell to a 3-2 defeat at home to Rugby Town.
The Scholars took the lead in the 34th minute when Kyrie Collins reacted to a long free-kick into the box, prodding the ball past the keeper.
The visitors were level nine minutes later when Eve Szabo’s shot from the edge of the area took a wicked deflection to find the net.
Rugby took the lead on the hour mark when Molly Law was left unmarked in the box, making no mistake as she fired into the top-right corner.
Debutant Tianna Sutherland brought the hosts back to 2-2 with an impressive strike from 25 yards.
But it was in vain, as with ten minutes to go Katie Andrews capitalised on hesitancy in the Chasetown defence before firing a low shot inside the near post.
