LICHFIELD’S Finlay Lines enjoyed a positive race weekend despite being left frustrated by contact in the final at Kimbolton.
He was competing as a privateer entry in round seven of the Wera Tools British Kart Championships IAME.
The city youngster showed strong pace from the outset as he timed his qualifying runs to perfection to secure pole position for the two heats.
But the first proved to be a challenging drive as he was shuffled back in the pack in the opening laps, forcing him to undertake a recovery drive.
Crucial overtakes kept his race weekend alive as he secured fourth.
There was a better start in the second heat as he settled into a fast rhythm to eventually secure a second place finish.
A strong superheat meant that Lines would be starting in second on the grid for the final – and as the race started, he was immediately in the thick of the action.
The action saw multiple position changes as he battled with the leaders, before contact with one of his on-track rivals quickly dropped him down the order.
But he battled back to recover some places before the finish as he eventually came home 13th.
Following the Kimbolton event, Lines now sits eighth in the Junior X30 British Kart Championship standings with two rounds remaining.
