Work has begun on a new strategic plan for Lichfield and Burntwood.

Lichfield District Council has begun work on creating the document, which will cover a four year period from April 2020.
So far, a working group has identified four themes it hopes to build on:
- Enabling people
- Shaping place
- Developing prosperity
- Being a good council
The four strands are developed further in early drafts set to be discussed at a meeting of Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet next week, including helping people to live healthy and active lives, keeping the area green and clean, and encouraging growth in local business.
Focus groups looking at the proposed document had been planned in the coming weeks, but these have now had to be postponed until after the General Election on 12th December.
But a report from Cllr Doug Pullen, leader of the council, confirmed a wider series of consultation events would take place in early January, with the aim of publishing a final draft of the strategic plan in February 2020.

“A strategic plan sets out the long term vision for the council, that shapes its activities and the impact it expects to make,” Cllr Pullen said in his report.
“It is high level and should be memorable for officers and residents to understand and remember.
“The strategic plan is supported by our delivery plan which details all the activity which will take place as part of our performance management framework.
“This framework enables the council to have plans that can change and adapt over the term of the council rather than being fixed for the entire four year period and as such, allows the council to plan effectively but also to respond to external factors and the changing needs of our community.”
