A senior member of Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet has is stepping down.
Cllr Louise Flowith has resigned the role as member for operational services for “personal reasons”.
Her decision follows a similar announcement by Cllr Val Richards in September that she would be relinquishing her cabinet responsibilities for leisure and tourism at the end of the year. Both will continue as ward councillors.
Their resignations mean that a third of the Cabinet will have stepped down since the group was trimmed from eight roles to six in May.
Leader of Lichfield District Council, Cllr Mike Wilcox said her departure was a “great shame”.
“Councillor Flowith has been a stalwart member of our Cabinet team at Lichfield District Council for over eight years,” he explained. “In that time Louise has overseen our award-winning recycling service, tourism developments, including the Staffordshire Hoard on Tour exhibition, the development of new car parks and so much more.
“It will be a great shame to lose her experience and expertise from the Cabinet, but the move also presents a great opportunity for one of her fellow councillors to step up to the role and help to shape the council and the services we deliver moving forwards.
“On behalf of all the council, I would like to personally thank Louise for her hard work and commitment over the years – she’s made a fantastic contribution to both our council and our services.”
The new-look Cabinet will be confirmed at a meeting on December 10.
