THE chair of Burntwood Town Council has hailed a “wonderful year” in the role.
Cllr Laura Ennis, Labour representative for Chasetown ward, will see her 12 months with the chains of office come to an end this month.
She said there had been a number of highlights from across the town – and thanked residents for helping her to raise more than £1,385 for The British Wildlife Rescue Centre.
“It has been a wonderful year and I have learned a lot about our town and the fantastic things that happen here.
“I’ve gone to many different events, from a school picnic and church fetes, to the installation of a defibrillator as well as our own Play in the Park events throughout the summer, the Burntwood Wakes Festival and many more.
“I must say that one of my happiest moments this year was being able to open Chase Terrace Community Centre. This fantastic building took months of hard work for everyone involved and it has turned out to be an amazing space and venue for our town to use and enjoy.
“As my time as Chair draws to an end, I just want to say thank you to everyone. I couldn’t be prouder to have represented Burntwood for the year.”
