A COUNCILLOR says the upcoming Burntwood Wakes is the perfect example of the strength of the local community.
The free event returns on 18th July and will see live music, inflatables, a climbing wall, a petting zoo, fairground attractions and food vendors.
There will also be free packed lunches on offer for children.
The event, which takes place at Burntwood Leisure Centre from midday to 4pm, is supported by Burntwood Town Council, Lichfield District Council, The Noel Sweeney Foundation and Crown Highways.
Cllr Darren Ennis, leader of the town council, said:
"The biggest event in Burntwood is, of course, the Burntwood Wakes Festival. Every year I am amazed by how this event continues to grow, bringing together families, community groups, businesses, charities, and volunteers from across the town.
"Most importantly, it remains completely free for residents to enjoy.
"None of this would be possible without the fantastic organisations that sponsor and partner with us each year. A huge thanks goes to Lichfield District Council, The Noel Sweeney Foundation and Crown Highways for supporting us to deliver activities, games, crafts and support for local families.
"Their contribution is invaluable and shows exactly what can be achieved when communities work together.
"Burntwood has always been a town built on community spirit, volunteers and people willing to get involved – and as we head into another busy summer, I would like to thank everyone who gives their time, energy and support to make our town such a fantastic place to live."
